Explore La Fromagerie Cheese Shop

Tucked into the bustling downtown area at 100 1st St in San Francisco, La Fromagerie Cheese Shop is a charming spot that quickly wins people over with its fresh, flavorful offerings and welcoming atmosphere. It’s the kind of place that feels perfect for a quick but satisfying lunch, especially if you appreciate quality ingredients done right. The sandwiches here are a highlight, with combinations that showcase excellent bread, rich cheeses, and crisp additions like peppery arugula. Even those who are usually skeptical about cold sandwiches often find themselves pleasantly surprised-one standout option features a balanced kick of habanero sauce that adds just the right amount of heat without overpowering the flavors. Vegetarian choices are available as well, and while they may vary, the best ones deliver a genuinely memorable bite thanks to thoughtful ingredient pairings. Beyond sandwiches, the shop also offers simple sides like fresh salads and small cheese cubes that complement the main dishes nicely. What really enhances the experience is how efficient everything is: despite being in a busy downtown location, service is quick, lines move fast, and food is often ready almost immediately. The pricing is another pleasant surprise, especially for San Francisco, with sandwiches around the $10 mark offering great value for the quality you receive. Add in the friendly and attentive staff, and the whole visit feels easy and enjoyable. Regulars often appreciate the rotating daily specials, which keep the menu interesting and give plenty of reasons to return.

Go here! Super cute French cheese and sandwich shop. Pick up picnic items like cheese, olives, crackers, chips, fresh salads and sandwiches. I found them on MealPal. French style oasis in DTSF.

Legit french, affordable as heck, delicious. Super happy they're available on ritual, may just be doing this every week. They also have an extensive cheese selection. Very great shop! My sandwich was perfect. Duck and fig, awesome combination. Stays together well, good texture, great bread.

It’s a typical shop for white collar workers, but one I really enjoyed. You can get some nice sandwiches there. My favorite one, and a clear recommendation to anyone, is TOULOUSE with duck breast and fig jam. PARISIEN with aged cheese was a bit too dry because of the bread. The ITALIEN was good. And try the grilled cheese some time.

Toulouse sandwich is highly recommended! I forgot to put vegetables Had a friend worked at different locations and she always made me a better one than this one, but it was not bad here!

The Californien sandwich tasted amazing. I normally don't like cold sandwiches, but I loved this one! The habanero sauce packed just the right amount of heat for someone who likes spicy food like me. I also enjoyed the salad and some cheese curds (small cheese cubes) I got in addition. For downtown SF, $10/ sandwich is a great price. The line was not long (less than 1 min) and they had my food made instantly. I'll definitely be coming back since they have daily special sandwiches that looked really good.
